Erin Public School is a K-8 school serving both a town and a rural community. Approximately 30% of our students live in the village. Most of these students walk to school. The remainder is bussed. The majority of bussed students are in grades 7 and 8. Erin Public School is a “feeder” school for students who have completed grade 6 at Ross R. MacKay PS in Hillsburgh or Brisbane PS in Brisbane. Students coming from Brisbane’s French Immersion program continue in French Immersion programs for grades 7 and 8 here as well. More than 60% of our school is composed of grade 7 and 8 students. Students graduating from Erin P.S. generally attend Erin District High School, (School Council Facebook page here) also in Erin. Some students also attend College Heights Secondary School, in Guelph.
We have a great facility with 2 gymnasiums, a lunchroom, a computer lab that is used by students at all grade levels, a Music room and a Science and Technology Lab. We also have a strong technological presence with desktops in all of our classrooms, over 50 Chromebooks, 30 iPads, 2 class sets of Nexus Tablets, 4 Macbook Pro work stations, DSLR cameras, a Green Screen room, 2 recording studios and much more.
Erin Public School has a very close connection to its community. It is actively involved in local events and is supported by many community organizations as well as a strong School Council. We also offer a variety of extra-curricular activities for students which include a Cooking Club, Art Club, an active Student Council, a Me to We team and a wide range of team and individual sports. We sent a contingent of over 50 students to UGDSB’s Empowerment Day event! Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any questions about Erin P.S.
